White Mountains of NH vacation ~ Day 3

This was our last day in the white mountains for our vacation. Sad smile  In the morning we had a little camping breakfast on using our propane stove. We had delicious pancakes and BACON! I loved watching him cook the pancakes. We had some interesting shapes.( look down)

This is when we went letterboxing again to find 2 more. These two we found in Lancaster, NH at a fire tower at the top of a small hill in Weeks state park. We found it in  the woods near the fire tower. The letterboxes are so fun to find and so fun to do.

We’re stamping up our books!

Then after letterboxing we went to one of our favorite small amusement parks Santa’s Village. It is a Christmas themed park with lots of rides. shows. and exhibits. (although I don’t think we’ve see any of the shows) We go there every year and we have such a great time. I think that the family favorite is the Elfabet scavenger hunt. It is where you go around the park and you have a card. You try and find these elf's and you use a machine to punch a little hole in your card for every letter of the alphabet. If you get all of the letters you get a prize. We love Santa’s village so much!

White Mountains of NH Vacation ~ Day 2

On the second day of our NH adventure we went to a nearby place called Attitash. It had lot’s of slides and trails. We all went on the Alpine Slide. It is a big, long downhill slide. You have a little cart and you get to control the speed that you go. It was really fun. I think that everyone really enjoyed it.

After lunch we went to go find things called letterboxes. The letterboxes are when you have a notebook and a stamp and you go look for ones that people hid. You stamp your stamp in their notebook and then you stamp their stamp in your book. It is very fun to follow the clues and find them in hidden places.

White Mountains of NH Vacation~ Day 1

Choo-choo! On our first day in the white mountains of NH we started our vacation on  the cog railway up to the top of Mt Washington. They say that Mt Washington has the worst weather in the world but this day was nice even though it was about 50 degrees at the top and almost 70 at the bottom.

This was the train we rode up on.

They had a brakeman and a brakeman in training on the cog train for the way up telling us info the whole way up.  This railway was built in 1866 although these trains are only a couple years old.  We also got to see some wildlife, a moose crossed the track not long after we started up the mountain.

Alexa is showing off where the railway is the 2nd steepest in the world, called Jacobs ladder. She is standing straight up.

Yeah, we made it to the top.( notice how now Alexa and Jared have pants on)

Now we had to eat some treats at the top. (Paige if your reading this these are the brownies we made)

Here’s our train for the ride down.

Now we went over to our campground, the twin mountain KOA.  For our “camping” we decided to use one of the kamping kabins, a lot easier than pitching a tent.  The kids went for a swim and then we made our dinner, tin foil meals.  This came form Alexa’s girls scouts camp and it’s basically where you mix meat, veggies, and some chicken broth into some aluminum foil and then just throw that into the fire. Jared just put veggies in his tinfoil meal and he roasted a hot dog on the fire( roasting wieners hehe).    20 minutes later we had yummy dinner.
