Today we arrived in Barcelona at around noon time. We got some sleep on the plane, although never enough. We grabbed some lunch at the Barcelona airport and then took a taxi to our Hotel, the AC Diplomatic. The taxi was a good choice since it was only 23.5 Euro’s and the AeroBus bus ride would have taken longer and would have cost almost the same. Since this was a sanctioned Disney hotel for the cruise at check-in we also registered for our next days bus ride to the boat.
The 1st thing we did was go to the hotel pool. It was up on the 8th floor and although kinda small it gave a good view to part of the city. Also it was refreshing to jump in after the long flight.
Here we are in the 8th floor pool.
This is the view from the top of the hotel.
Our next adventure was to visit , as we kept telling Jared and he kept repeating, the most famous church in Barcelona, Sagrada Familia. This church was started back in 1882 and is still being constructed today. They hope to be done in 2026. The main architect was Antoni Gaudi and his designs of this church are pretty unique (Alexa says it was different and weird).
The inside of the church really did look like large trees and part of the outside looked like (especially that last picture) sand was dripped in places to create the scenes.
After visiting Sagrada Familia we took a long walk to find dinner. We got a little lost but we were able to take our tired bodies over the to the Barcelona Hard Rock Café. It looked like the place was packed because there were people all around the entrance door but when we went in it was only a 5 minute wait.
Eating at the Hard Rock.
After Dinner we walked back to the hotel (easy walk) and crashed into our beds for some sleep even though it was only 3PM Vt time.
It’s time to sleep.
A couple things we noticed around Barcelona:
- There are a lots and lots of motorcycles and scooters.
- The intersection of streets near our hotel was actually a diamond shape which allowed parking spots at every intersection.
- Most cars and scooters/motorcycles actually used turn signals.
- I expected a lot of super small cars but found that the cars looked very much the same size as US cars.
